VINTAGE HOHNER MARINE BAND No. 1896 HARMONICA with Key of F; Pre-World War II w/ STAR
You are bidding on one of Hohner's finest harmonicas. This model is internationally recognized by players for its simple beauty and resonant tone and is often referred to as ''... the most famous harmonica in the world...'' The pearwood body, solid brass plates and patented cover design produce a musical quality that, when first heard in 1896, brought the Marine Band immediate popularity. Ten holes are housed with a wood comb between durable chrome-plated covers.
There are no broken partitions in the wood comb of this harmonica. An extra picture (No. 3) of the mouth is shown as well the reverse end (No. 6).
The particular harmonica is of Pre-World War II vintage, which is characterized by the six-sided star inside of the circular Hohner Harmonica Trademark (see Picture No. 1) and is highly prized by players and collectors alike.

The harmonica, also called a richter-tuned harmonica, or 10-hole harmonica (in Asia), is the most widely known type of harmonica. In the United States and Europe, it is called a 'diatonic' harmonica.
