HOHNER AUTO VALVE HARMONICA
Keys of G (No. 105 /40)
You are bidding on Hohner's finest full concert octave harmonica with windsaving valves, the Auto Valve Harp provides the player with greater volume and blowing ease. Ten double holes and 40 reeds are housed with a wood comb between durable chrome-plated covers.
Manufactured by Hohner Musical Instrument Co. of Trossingen, Germany.
The harmonica, also called a richter-tuned harmonica or 10-hole harmonica (in Asia), is the most widely known type of harmonica. In the United States and Europe, it is called a 'diatonic' harmonica. It has ten holes which offer the player 19 notes (10 holes times a draw and a blow for each hole minus one repeated note) in a three octive range.
The standard diatonic harmonica is designed to allow a player to play chords and melody in a single key. Because they are only designed to be played in a single key at a time, diatonic harmonicas are available in all keys.
These and other harmonicas up for sale on eBay have been stored in two cabinets for over 40 years. I inherited the harmonicas in 1980 when my 87 year-old uncle passed away. He had purchased all of these harmonicas decades before in San Francisco; it is possible they have not been used in over 40 years.
The condition of this harmonica is very good. There are no major scratches, observable rust or dents on the instrument; use and wear of the harmonica is consistent with its use and age over time.
