Here is a fantastic Antique Harmonica made by Wilhelm Thie. It was made for the 1876 Philadelphia Worlds Fair or Centennial Exposition of the United States. The country of Austria did have an exhibit there. This great Antique Harmonica is in very good condition for its age, but could use a good cleaning and minor restoration. Most of the holes do make sound. The brass sections are a little dented, but could easily be straightened. One of the small brass tacks is missing. This harmonica is clearly marked on both sides as shown in my photos. Each side has two very clear marks that say Philadelphia 1876.. There are four of these marks total. It measures 8 5/8'' long 2'' wide and 3/4'' thick. Please e-mail any questions..

I have one of these - is there any more information? Mine has the dates, "1867, 1869". And there must have been a patent - was it in England or Germany? Mine does not have the extended wood, but is completely covered in brass, with the nails one each end.
