My parents bought this Hohner Soprano Melodica in 1969 in the hopes that I would learn to play music. Little did they know I was tone deaf. I fooled around with it and for a short while, I used to take it along everywhere I went and disturbed everyone within earshot. Eventually, I put it away in the closet, never again to see the light of day. My musical aspirations died with no hope of revival. The Melodica recently resurfaced and once again I was faced with my musical failure. This time I didn't even take it out of the case.
That being said, the Melodica is a very nice sounding instrument. It combines the lovely sound of reeds with an easily understood piano-type keyboard. It has a rich tone (unless I'm playing it) with notes created through 'blow' tones. Its musical range covers two fully chromatic octaves from piano Middle C with 25 keys (you know - those black and white things). Actually, the Melodica is very easy to play and educators used it for teaching the rudiments of harmony, chord formation, theory, and for choral work.
The Melodica is in excellent overall condition and comes in its original green Hohner carrying case. It measures approximately 13 1/2 inches long and has an attractive green and ivory color. Made in Germany.
Hopefully, the buyer of this instrument will have a little more talent than I did at a young age. If there had been a show in the late 60's 'America Does Not H
